“We express our sincere gratitude for the statements of support, letters, and phone calls received from our international partners following the Iranian drone strikes against the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
We highly value the solidarity shown with Azerbaijan and the clear reaffirmation of support for our country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the inviolability of its borders.
We thank all countries and international organisations who stood with Azerbaijan during this time and appreciate their continued support and engagement,” the ministry said in a statement.
On March 5, drones launched from Iranian territory targeted sites in Nakhchivan. One struck the terminal building of Nakhchivan International Airport, while another fell near a school in the village of Shakarabad. Four civilians were injured in the airport attack.
Following the incidents, Iran’s ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mojtaba Demirchilou, was summoned to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry. Azerbaijan has stated that it reserves the right to carry out a retaliatory strike.
