Azerbaijan to host Russian agricultural export delegation soon
The Federal Centre for the Development of Export of Agricultural Products of the Russian Federation (Agroexport) is organising a business mission to Azerbaijan at the end of next month.
The business mission is expected to visit Baku from September 24 to 26, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The delegation will consist of Russian companies that export agricultural products to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan and Russia share a strong relationship in the agricultural sector, built on geographic proximity, complementary economic needs, and a long history of trade.
Agriculture plays a crucial role in their bilateral trade, with both countries actively participating in the exchange of various agricultural products.
Azerbaijan primarily exports fresh fruits and vegetables to Russia, including tomatoes, apples, pomegranates, cherries, and other fruits. Nuts, particularly hazelnuts, are also a significant export item.
Russia exports grains, such as wheat and barley, meat, dairy products, and various types of processed foods to Azerbaijan. Russia's significant grain production capability makes it a key supplier to Azerbaijan, especially in wheat, which is a staple in Azerbaijani cuisine.
