Azerbaijan to introduce visa-free entry for Singaporeans from August 1

07 July 2026 17:06

Azerbaijan and Singapore have discussed expanding bilateral cooperation across a range of sectors, with Baku announcing that Singaporean citizens will be able to travel to Azerbaijan visa-free from August 1.

During a telephone conversation, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan reviewed the current state of relations and prospects for deeper cooperation, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry said, Caliber.Az reports.

The ministers highlighted opportunities to strengthen political dialogue and expand cooperation in the economy, investment, digital transformation, innovation, transport and logistics, education, and human capital development. They also underscored the importance of further developing the bilateral legal framework and enhancing cooperation within the United Nations and other international organisations.

The two sides also exchanged views on the nomination of candidates for elected bodies of international organisations.

Bayramov informed Balakrishnan of Azerbaijan's decision to introduce a visa-free regime for Singaporean citizens starting on August 1, expressing confidence that the move would boost people-to-people contacts, business ties, tourism, and broader bilateral relations.

The conversation also covered regional security issues. Bayramov briefed his Singaporean counterpart on Azerbaijan's efforts to promote lasting peace and stability in the post-conflict period, as well as ongoing reconstruction and restoration projects in the country's liberated territories.

He also stressed the importance of reopening regional transport and communication links to strengthen economic integration and build mutual trust.

Bayramov said Azerbaijan's relations with the countries of Central Asia had reached a strategic level in recent years, adding that cooperation within the C6 framework, along with projects involving the Caspian Sea, the Middle Corridor and other regional transport initiatives, was contributing to sustainable economic integration across Eurasia.

The ministers concluded the call by exchanging views on other regional and international issues of mutual interest.
