Azerbaijan top army commander reviews military cooperation during Belarus visit PHOTO
The First Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, Colonel General Karim Valiyev, is on an official visit to Belarus at the invitation of the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus.
An official welcoming ceremony was held in accordance with protocol, during which the chiefs of the general staffs reviewed the guard of honour and the national anthems of both countries were performed, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Defence Ministry.
Following the ceremony, Colonel General Karim Valiyev held talks with Major General Pavel Muraveiko, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus and First Deputy Minister of Defence.
The sides discussed prospects for further deepening bilateral defence cooperation between Azerbaijan and Belarus, as well as opportunities for its continued development. They also exchanged views on regional security and other issues of mutual interest.
As part of the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation visited the Victory Monument in Minsk and laid a wreath at the monument.
Later, the delegation visited the Automated Control Systems Unit of the Military Academy of Belarus, where they were briefed on the academy’s educational and material resources, as well as its laboratories.
