Azerbaijan, Türkiye discuss cooperation and regional issues in Switzerland PHOTO
Speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament Sahiba Gafarova has met with President of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Numan Kurtulmuş during the 149th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva, Switzerland.
The two officials expressed satisfaction with the comprehensive development of the close cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kurtulmuş’ message on X.

"We also discussed regional and global events, reaffirming our ongoing support for our brotherly Azerbaijan and our commitment to demonstrating solidarity on international platforms," the message says.
Kurtulmuş expressed satisfaction with the successful development of fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
He noted that following the 44-day second Karabakh war, new realities have emerged in the region, highlighting that large-scale construction projects in Karabakh and East Zangazur, along with the opening of the Zangezur corridor, will create significant opportunities for the Turkic world.
Gafarova emphasised that the two brotherly countries maintain a unified position on all issues, supporting each other in international organisations.
The discussion also underscored that both countries advocate for peace and cooperation in the region. Moreover, the importance of collaborative efforts between the parliaments on multilateral platforms, particularly in addressing climate change, was highlighted.
Moreover, Gafarova also met with Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf during the 149th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
During the talks, Ghalibaf expressed Iran's interest in further strengthening relations with Azerbaijan.
He added that the Iranian newly elected leadership maintains a consistent policy towards its neighbouring countries, emphasising the continuation of efforts to expand parliamentary ties.
In response, Gafarova stated that Azerbaijan attaches significant importance to peace, security, and cooperation in the region, adhering to a policy of diplomacy and goodwill.
