Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Georgia boost defence cooperation at trilateral meeting in Ankara PHOTO
The 12th Trilateral Meeting of the Defence Ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye was held on 9 October in Ankara, reaffirming the growing partnership among the three nations in security and defence.
The meeting underscored that the good-neighbourly and friendly relations between the three countries continue to develop steadily under the leadership of their heads of state and government, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry.
The Minister of Defence of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, the Minister of Defence of Georgia, Irakli Chikovani, and the Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Türkiye, Yaşar Güler, discussed the current military-political situation in the region, the deepening of trilateral military cooperation, and the protection of regional projects of strategic importance.
The sides also explored new prospects for collaboration in the fields of military, military-technical, military education, and military medicine.
It was noted that trilateral cooperation in the defence sphere plays a vital role in maintaining peace, stability, and security in the region, contributing to sustainable development and the well-being of the three nations.
The ministers highlighted the significance of regular trilateral and bilateral military exercises and exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest in the field of defence cooperation.
Following the meeting, a protocol was signed, and the defence ministers held a joint press conference for media representatives.
