Azerbaijan, Türkiye step up cooperation in military personnel training PHOTO
A delegation from Türkiye's National Defence University, led by Deputy Rector Major General Burhan Aktaş, is on a visit to Azerbaijan to strengthen bilateral cooperation in military education and professional training.
The delegation includes senior staff and faculty members from the university's Land Forces, Air Force, and Naval Forces academies, as well as participants in the institution's Staff Management Course, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijan’s Defence Ministry.
As part of the visit, the delegation paid tribute at the Alley of Honor, where members laid flowers at the graves of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and prominent ophthalmologist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva. They also visited the Alley of Martyrs and the Turkish Martyrs' Cemetery to honor those who lost their lives.
Under the visit's agenda, First Deputy Minister of Defence and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, Colonel General Karim Valiyev, held talks with the Turkish delegation.
During the meeting, Valiyev emphasized that the strategic relationship between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, founded on friendship, brotherhood, and alliance, continues to make a significant contribution to the development of military education in both countries.
The participants underscored the importance of expanding the exchange of experience between the two countries to further enhance the professional knowledge and skills of military personnel.
Major General Aktaş thanked the Azerbaijani side for warm welcome and hospitality, stressing that such visits and high-level meetings play an important role in further strengthening bilateral relations.
The discussions focused on ongoing initiatives and future plans to broaden cooperation in military education. The sides also exchanged views on implementing joint projects for the training of professional military personnel, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
