Azerbaijan, Uganda to establish annual youth dialogue to strengthen bilateral ties
John Mulimba, Ugandan Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of Regional Affairs, underscored the critical role of youth platforms in today’s global landscape, emphasizing their potential to drive meaningful political outcomes.
His remarks came during a meeting with members of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Youth Organization held in Baku, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Mulimba praised Azerbaijan’s proactive role as the current chair of NAM, particularly highlighting the initiative to establish the Youth Organization’s headquarters as an “incredible idea” that could catalyze broader youth engagement within the movement.
“I would also like to put forward several proposals to expand cooperation between the youth of Uganda and Azerbaijan. Such steps could serve as a dynamic incentive to strengthen our bilateral relations and create a new model of international partnership based on equality and shared values,” Mulimba stated.
Among the concrete proposals presented by the Ugandan minister was the establishment of an annual youth dialogue between Uganda and Azerbaijan. This initiative, he explained, aims to deepen mutual understanding and foster enhanced cooperation between young leaders within the Non-Aligned Movement.
The proposed dialogue is expected to serve as a platform for the exchange of ideas, collaboration on common challenges, and the promotion of shared values among the younger generations of both nations. It also aligns with broader efforts to empower youth as active contributors to international diplomacy and sustainable development.
