Azerbaijan, UK resume inter-parliamentary contacts PHOTO
Azerbaijan has restored its inter-parliamentary links with the United Kingdom, reviving a working group aimed at strengthening legislative cooperation.
Fariz Ismailzade, a member of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament) and head of the working group, said that a session of the group took place in London today (January 27), Caliber.Az reports per local media.

“After a long hiatus, the working group has resumed its activities. Thanks to the joint efforts of the Azerbaijani embassy in the UK and the Milli Majlis, inter-parliamentary contacts have been reactivated,” Ismailzade said.
He added that meetings were held with British MPs and representatives of leading research and policy institutes in London, including the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) and the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS).
The revival of the working group is expected to boost parliamentary dialogue and foster closer cooperation on strategic and policy issues.
Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom have maintained diplomatic relations since Azerbaijan’s independence in 1991. The two countries cooperate across multiple areas, including energy, trade, education, defence, and security.
The UK is one of Azerbaijan’s key partners in the oil and gas sector, with several British companies involved in major projects in the Caspian region. Both countries also engage in political dialogue through regular visits, parliamentary exchanges, and participation in international forums.
