Azerbaijan, Ukraine mull cooperation agenda, regional security PHOTO
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with newly appointed Ukrainian Ambassador to the country Yuriy Gusev.
The meeting focused on the current agenda of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ukraine, as well as regional security issues, the ministry told Caliber.Az.
FM Bayramov congratulated Yuriy Gusev on his appointment and wished him success in his diplomatic tenure.
The sides hailed the development of strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Ukraine in the spheres of economy, trade, energy security, transportation and communications, humanitarian and other areas.
Bayramov highlighted Azerbaijan's preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, noting that by including the issue of combating climate change in the agenda of cooperation, COP29 will contribute to the development of bilateral relations.
Ambassador Gusev assured that he would spare no effort to further develop ties between Azerbaijan and Ukraine. He expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan's constant support to Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, and for the humanitarian aid provided.
Foreign Minister Bayramov also met with newly appointed Italian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Luca Di Gianfrancesco.
FM Bayramov congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in his diplomatic tenure. The issues of strategic partnership between the two countries, as well as the current regional situation were discussed at the meeting.
The importance of using the mechanisms of strategic dialogue and political consultations to discuss the prospects of multilateral cooperation in various fields, including economy, trade, energy security, communications, education, humanitarian field was emphasized at the meeting. In this context, the role of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy wasunderlined.
The fact that the Italian-Azerbaijani University will give additional impetus to the expanding cooperation in the field of education was pointed out at the meeting.
Bayramov provided an insight into the current situation and new realities in the region in the post-conflict period, the large-scale reconstruction and renovation works in the territories liberated from occupation, the process of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The Minister praised the contribution of Italian companies to the construction works, informed about the possibilities of cooperation in the field of demining.
Ambassador Gianfrancesco assured that he would make efforts to develop the existing multi-vector strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Italy.
