Azerbaijan, UN address peace efforts, regional security challenges
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with UN Alliance of Civilizations High Representative Miguel Ángel Moratinos to discuss ongoing cooperation, regional security, and the recent military escalation in the Middle East.
The officials discussed multiple aspects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UN Alliance of Civilizations, including ongoing joint projects and future partnership opportunities, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Both sides emphasized the significance of existing ties in promoting intercultural and interfaith dialogue, highlighting Azerbaijan’s contributions through the Baku Process and other international initiatives.
FM Bayramov briefed Moratinos on the regional situation in the post-conflict period, Azerbaijan’s continuing peace efforts, and the process of normalizing relations with Armenia.
Moratinos, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan to participate in the Global Baku Forum, praised the country’s consistent and proactive approach to fostering intercultural dialogue, underlining the importance of continued collaboration with the UN Alliance of Civilizations and expressing support for future joint initiatives.
The discussions also addressed the recent military escalation in the Middle East. Bayramov and Moratinos exchanged views on bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual concern, emphasizing the promotion of intercultural solidarity in the face of global challenges and enhanced cooperation in combating Islamophobia.
