Azerbaijan, UN discuss cooperation on road safety PHOTO
Azerbaijan and the UN have discussed cooperation on road safety and global initiatives in the field, as part of a meeting between Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister and Jean Todt, UN Special Envoy for Road Safety.
Bayramov briefed Todt on Azerbaijan's ongoing reforms aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, developing a safe, sustainable and modern transport system, and improving road safety, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Foreign Ministry.
He also highlighted efforts to modernise the country's transport infrastructure and implement digital solutions.
The minister noted that large-scale road construction and infrastructure development projects are underway across the country, particularly in the territories liberated from occupation.
Todt outlined his activities as the UN secretary-general's special envoy for road safety and the measures being taken to prevent road traffic accidents and strengthen international cooperation in the field.
He praised Azerbaijan's efforts and progress in improving road safety and stressed the importance of continuing cooperation.
The meeting also covered other issues of mutual interest.
