Azerbaijan, UN-Habitat explore cooperation on urban planning and development
Jeyhun Bayramov met with Anacláudia Rossbach, head of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, during her visit to Azerbaijan to attend the Global Baku Forum.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan told Caliber.Az that the meeting focused on cooperation between Azerbaijan and UN-Habitat, including the management of sustainable urban development and urbanisation processes, as well as prospects for expanding partnership in this area.
The sides also exchanged views on preparations for the upcoming World Urban Forum 13 (WUF13), which is scheduled to take place in Baku. The situation in the Middle East was also discussed.
During the talks, it was noted that the large-scale reconstruction work carried out by Azerbaijan in territories liberated from occupation, along with the construction of settlements based on modern urban planning principles, serves as a clear example of the country’s contribution to urbanisation.
Bayramov also briefed Rossbach on the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He outlined Azerbaijan’s position and initiatives aimed at ensuring sustainable peace and stability in the region during the post-conflict period.
