Azerbaijan, UNEP to launch joint projects on environmental protection

Azerbaijan will implement joint projects with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) on environmental protection in 2026.

The announcement was made by Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev at a briefing with UN Deputy Secretary General, Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme Inger Andersen, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

The project will also highlight the works carried out by Azerbaijan, he said.

"Discussions have been held on the implementation of UNEP-supported works for the utilisation and reuse of construction waste in the liberated territories. Work in this direction was mainly carried out in Aghdam," Babayev said.
