13 March 2026 13:34

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), during her visit to participate in the Global Baku Forum, to discuss various areas of cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNOG as well as regional issues.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with Azerbaijan–UNOG cooperation and praised UNOG’s work on sustainable development, climate action, and economic development, Caliber.Az reports via the foreign ministry.

The parties noted that Azerbaijan actively engages within the UN framework, including the COP climate change convention.

Bayramov highlighted that this year, Azerbaijan will host the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), one of the UN’s largest events. Additionally, a summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) will take place this year, and from next year, Azerbaijan will chair the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

The meeting also acknowledged Valovaya’s previous visits to Azerbaijan and high-level meetings, expressing gratitude for her contribution to strengthening cooperation between UNOG and Azerbaijan’s permanent mission in Geneva, as well as other relevant national institutions.

Bayramov briefed the guest on regional developments and the process of normalising relations with Armenia. The parties also exchanged views on military escalations in the Middle East.
