Azerbaijan unveils names of retired army officers UPDATED

Several Azerbaijani army officers have been transferred to the reserve and for retirement.

Azerbaijani army officers who reached the age limit for active military service were transferred to the reserve and for retirement according to the corresponding clause of the regulation “On Military Service”. A list of army officers has been unveiled, Oxu.Az reports citing pravda.az.

Thus, head of the Ground Forces Inspectorate, Col. Saleh Kalantarov and head of the Operations Directorate of the Ground Forces, Col. Allahverdi Hajiyev were transferred for retirement.

Head of the Main Operations Directorate Azer Aliyev was transferred to the reserve.

Cmdr. of the Azerbaijani Naval Forces, VAdm Subhan Bakirov, and ex-Deputy Defence Minister, Cmdr. of the Ground Forces, Lt.-Gen. Anvar Afandiyev, were transferred to the reserve, while Cmdr. of the Special Forces of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, Lt.-Gen. Hikmat Mirzoyev, was appointed.

Rector of the Azerbaijan National Defence Academy, Lt.-Gen. Heydar Piriyev was relieved of his post. Col. Gunduz Abdulov was appointed instead of Piriyev.

The Azerbaijani Defence Ministry has announced that some army officers were transferred to the reserve and for retirement.

According to the relevant clause of the Regulations “On Military Service”, several army officers who reached the age limit for active military service were transferred to the reserve and for retirement, the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry told APA.
