Azerbaijan, US discuss humanitarian demining cooperation Photo
Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) Board Chairman Vugar Suleymanov met with Amy Carlon, Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Azerbaijan, to discuss ongoing humanitarian demining efforts and bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, Carlon was briefed on Azerbaijan’s landmine and unexploded ordnance (UXO) challenges, as well as the progress made in clearing affected areas, Caliber.Az reports, citing ANAMA.

Both sides exchanged views on potential avenues for further collaboration, including possible US support for Azerbaijan’s demining operations.
Landmine contamination remains a serious threat in Azerbaijan’s territories liberated from occupation, posing ongoing risks to civilians and agricultural activities.
Since the end of the Second Karabakh War, at least 417 people have been killed or injured by landmines and unexploded ordnance in Azerbaijan.
