Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan eye brotherhood, friendship, strategic partnership
Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Jeyhun Bayramov and his Uzbek counterpart Bakhtiyor Saidov discussed various aspects of brotherhood, friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries on a phone call on May 28.
During the call, the Uzbek minister also conveyed sincere congratulations on the occasion of Azerbaijan’s Independence Day and wished that the independence of the country would be strong and stable, Caliber.Az reports per the Foreign Ministry.
Besides, the high potential of bilateral and regional cooperation between the two countries was emphasized.
Minister Bayramov thanked his Uzbek counterpart for his congratulations and expressed confidence in the further development of large-scale relations between the two countries.
Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan were established on October 2, 1995. The embassy of Azerbaijan in Uzbekistan was established in August 1996, while the embassy of Uzbekistan in Azerbaijan was opened in July 1998.
The friendly relations between the two countries are based on shared values and historical ties, as well as a number of joint statements and agreements signed during bilateral visits and meetings.
