Azerbaijani, Albanian FMs discuss prospects of bilateral ties

21 June 2023 18:44

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met his Albanian counterpart Olta Xhaçka within the framework of the Ukraine Recovery Conference.

“Pleased to meet with dear colleague and friend Xhaçka Olta, Foreign Minister of Albania on the sidelines of the Ukraine Recovery Conference. We had a chance to review the current status of Azerbaijan-Albania bilateral cooperation and elaborate on prospects for its development,” Caliber.Az quotes Bayramov as tweeting following the June 21 meeting in London, UK.

Both countries are predominantly Muslim and members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the Council of Europe. Relations between the two countries were established on September 23, 1992, after Azerbaijan gained independence from the Soviet Union.

Albania and Azerbaijan are developing economic and cultural ties. Albania supports Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.

The Ukraine Recovery Conference 2023 (URC 2023) began on June 21, bringing together a wide range of stakeholders to London to help mobilize financial and political support for the country’s post-war recovery.

Officials from more than 60 countries and representatives of international financial institutions, the private sector and civil society are participating in the two-day event.

The conference's goal is to rally international support for post-war reconstruction in Ukraine.
