Azerbaijani army holds sports championship PHOTO/VIDEO
The Azerbaijani army held a championship in Greco-Roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling and judo, dedicated to the memory of the martyrs of the Patriotic War, among military personnel.
The championship draw was held first, then the objective of the competition and safety rules were explained, Caliber.Az reports with reference to the Defence Ministry.
At the opening ceremony of the championship, held in accordance with the training plan of the Ground Forces for 2023, a minute of silence was dedicated to the memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev and martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani national anthem was performed.
Furthermore, speakers at the ceremony talked of the importance of such events to maintain combat readiness and physical preparedness of personnel at a high level and wished success to the sportsmen.
It was noted that 7 teams consisting of 40 sportsmen will compete in the competitions held at the sports complex.
Judges of the international and republican categories of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation will be attending the competitions to be held till June 23.
