Azerbaijani chief of General Staff in Uzbekistan to beef up military ties
First Deputy Defence Minister and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijani Army Col-Gen Karim Valiyev is on an official visit to Uzbekistan at the invitation of First Deputy Defence Minister and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan, Maj-Gen Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov.
According to the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry, Col-Gen Karim Valiyev, accompanied by his delegation, paid homage to the National Leader Heydar Aliyev by laying a wreath at his memorial bas-relief in Tashkent's park named after him, Caliber.Az reports.
Following this, Col-Gen Karim Valiyev held a meeting with his Uzbek counterpart, preceded by a solemn welcoming ceremony at the Uzbek Defence Ministry, featuring the playing of both countries' national anthems and a guard of honor.
During the meeting, the two military leaders discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation in military, military-technical, and military-educational fields, alongside exchanging views on other mutual interests.
The visit of the Azerbaijani Chief of General Staff to Uzbekistan will continue until June 7.
