Azerbaijani defence minister discusses security cooperation in Bosnia and Herzegovina PHOTO
Azerbaijan’s Defence Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, continued his official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina with discussions focused on strengthening defence cooperation and regional security.
During meetings at the European Union Force (EUFOR) Command in Bosnia and Herzegovina and with the Turkish military contingent, the Azerbaijani delegation exchanged views on ongoing collaboration within Partnership for Peace and the Operational Capabilities Concept programmes, as well as other issues of mutual interest, Caliber.Az reports, citing Defence Ministry.
Following an official welcoming ceremony at Camp Butmir, Colonel General Hasanov met with Major General Florin-Marian Barbu, Commander of EUFOR in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Azerbaijani side was briefed on the European Union Force's operations and activities in the region, while both parties underlined the importance of continued partnership in maintaining stability and enhancing interoperability.
Later, the Minister visited the Turkish Contingent, where he met with its Commander, Colonel Mustafa Çetin Çelik. Colonel General Hasanov expressed condolences over the loss of Turkish servicemen who were martyred in the crash of a C-130 military cargo plane that had departed from Azerbaijan to Türkiye and went down on November 11 near the Georgian-Azerbaijani border.
