Azerbaijani defence minister joins Belarus Independence Day celebrations, CIS meeting
Azerbaijani Defence Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov participated as a guest of honour in the ceremony commemorating Belarus' Independence Day and the 80th anniversary of its liberation from Nazi invaders.
Hasanov attended the military parade in Minsk, which included representatives from various armed forces, including Azerbaijani servicemen, Azerbaijani Defence Ministry told Caliber.Az.
Following this, he visited Victory Square where he and other delegation leaders laid wreaths at the Victory Monument.
Additionally, a session of the Council of Defence Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States took place at the National Library of Belarus, focusing on current military cooperation and future tasks.
Belarus and Azerbaijan have cultivated diplomatic relations since establishing ties on January 22, 1993. Both nations, members of the United Nations, OSCE, and CIS, collaborate closely on political, economic, cultural, and defence fronts, bolstered by mutual interests and respect for sovereignty. Their evolving relationship reflects robust bilateral and multilateral cooperation efforts.
