Azerbaijani defence minister receives high-ranking Georgian commander PHOTO
Azerbaijani Defense Minister Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov received on February 20 a delegation led by Commander of the Georgian Defense Forces Major-General Giorgi Matiashvili.
The Ministry of Defense told Caliber.Az that Minister Hasanov noted during the meeting the high level of bilateral and trilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Georgia, highlighting it as an important factor in ensuring security in the region.
Hasanov said that at the "Winter Exercises-2023" in Kars, Türkiye, the military personnel demonstrated high professionalism, and noted that the joint exercises played an important role in the exchange of experience and further improving the combat capability of the armies.
He also spoke about the importance of the meeting at the plenary session within the framework of the Munich Security Conference with the participation of the leaders of the states of the South Caucasus and spoke about the work carried out to ensure regional security.
Matiashvili, for his part, underlined the high level of military ties between Azerbaijan and Georgia, saying the Azerbaijani-Georgian military cooperation contributes to regional security.
The parties further discussed the expansion of cooperation in the military, military-technical fields, the field of military education, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
