Azerbaijani defence minister visits Slovakia to strengthen military ties
Azerbaijani Defence Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, is on an official visit to Slovakia at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Robert Kaliňák.
During his visit, Hasanov paid tribute at the Slavin War Memorial, laying a wreath in honour of the killed soldiers, Caliber.Az reports.
In Bratislava, he met with his Slovak counterpart. The two ministers reviewed the honour guard and were accompanied by a ceremonial military band as they listened to the national anthems of both countries.
The meeting included a thorough exchange of views on the current state of military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Slovakia, emphasising the importance of mutual visits. The sides also discussed future prospects for military and defence cooperation.
Moreover, President of Slovakia Peter Pellegrini is set to visit Azerbaijan in the coming days to discuss enhancing his country's energy security with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
“I will be heading to Azerbaijan shortly. I have a meeting scheduled with President Aliyev, where I want to reaffirm Slovakia's interest in finding ways to secure our energy safety,” Pellegrini stated during a press conference in Germany.
He also mentioned that he had discussed his upcoming visit to Baku with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
