Azerbaijani Defence Ministry protests Iranian missile launch toward Türkiye
The Azerbaijan Defence Ministry has strongly condemned the launch of a ballistic missile from the territory of Iran in the direction of Türkiye.
In an official statement, the government body described the incident as a serious threat to regional stability and security, expressing firm protest over the escalation, Caliber.Az reports, citing the ministry’s website.
“We strongly condemn the launch of a ballistic missile from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran against the territory of the Republic of Türkiye. We express our solidarity with brotherly Türkiye and reaffirm our unwavering support for its security and territorial integrity” the statement read.
The Azerbaijani statement follows a fresh escalation involving Iran and Türkiye, after a ballistic missile launched from Iranian territory was intercepted over Turkish airspace.
According to the Turkish Ministry of National Defence, the missile was successfully neutralised by NATO-integrated air and missile defence systems deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean. The incident marks another case of direct security tension affecting Türkiye’s airspace, prompting heightened alert and response measures.
