Azerbaijani delegation attends opening of IPU assembly in Istanbul
A parliamentary delegation led by Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova participated in the opening ceremony of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Istanbul, according to the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis.
The delegation is currently on a working visit to Türkiye, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The opening ceremony featured addresses by Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Numan Kurtulmuş, IPU President Tulia Ackson, IPU Secretary General Martin Chungong, and UN Resident Coordinator Babatunde Ahonsi. The speakers emphasised the importance of the discussions and extended their best wishes for the success of the assembly.
This year’s IPU Assembly is focused on the theme “Nurturing hope, securing peace and ensuring justice for future generations.” Participants are expected to discuss measures to strengthen parliamentary cooperation and explore initiatives aimed at promoting peace, justice, and sustainable development through legislative action.
