Azerbaijani delegation takes part in roundtable in Armenia PHOTO

14 February 2026 19:11

On February 13–14, a bilateral roundtable was held in the town of Tsaghkadzor (Armenia) as part of the “Bridge of Peace” initiative, bringing together representatives of civil society from Armenia and Azerbaijan.

According to Caliber.Az, citing council.am, in addition to the core participants of the “Bridge of Peace” initiative, broader groups of representatives from both sides also took part in the roundtable, once again demonstrating their commitment to inclusive and sustainable dialogue.

After completing all necessary procedures, the Azerbaijani delegation arrived in Armenia via a delimited and demarcated section of the land border near the villages of Ashagi Askipara and Voskepar. Participants described this crossing as an important practical step towards confidence-building and a clear sign of progress in the normalisation process between the two countries.

The discussions focused on the current stage of Azerbaijan–Armenia relations and prospects for their further development, as well as the implementation of the peace agenda endorsed at the Washington summit on August 8, 2025, and its implications for the region. Participants exchanged views on the evolving regional environment and the economic opportunities opened up by the peace process. A separate session was devoted to cooperation among dialogue participants, including joint projects, public communication strategies, and mechanisms for inter-societal engagement.

Special attention was given to developing practical recommendations on confidence-building, advancing public diplomacy, and supporting rapprochement at the societal level. Issues related to regional security, borders, and communications were also widely discussed.

Alongside the official sessions, informal cultural and social events were organised, helping to foster interpersonal contacts and create a constructive atmosphere.

On the second day, participants examined the benefits of sustainable peace and the potential socio-economic gains from fostering inter-societal relations. Public expectations and ways to deliver tangible results of the peace process for citizens were also addressed.

As part of the programme, participants held meetings with senior Armenian officials, including Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan and Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan. These discussions provided an opportunity to exchange views on the role of civil society in supporting the peace agenda and how public initiatives can complement official efforts.

The event concluded with a press conference.

The Azerbaijani delegation returned via the same delimited section of the border.

Participants once again reaffirmed that regular cooperation within the framework of the “Bridge of Peace” initiative can make a significant contribution to strengthening mutual trust, expanding professional engagement, and gradually normalising Azerbaijan–Armenia relations.
