01 December 2024 14:06

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Deputy Minister Fariz Rzayev has visited the Kingdom of Morocco, where he engaged in a series of diplomatic discussions and participated in key events to highlight Azerbaijan’s foreign policy and regional initiatives.

During his visit, Rzayev took part in a roundtable at the Moroccan Academy of Diplomatic Studies in Rabat, alongside young diplomats from Morocco and other African countries, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

In his speech, Rzayev addressed Azerbaijan’s foreign policy, both bilaterally and multilaterally, and discussed the current developments in the region.

He also elaborated on the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Morocco, emphasizing their partnership within international organizations. The deputy minister highlighted Azerbaijan’s successful presidency at COP29 and the resolutions adopted during the conference.

Rzayev also attended the 16th MEDays International Forum in Tangier, which was held under the patronage of the King of Morocco. The forum, with approximately 6,000 representatives from over 100 countries, focused on "The Opportunities of Sovereignty and Resilience: Towards a New Global Balance."

During a panel session on energy transition, Rzayev spoke about Azerbaijan’s green energy policies and its commitment to utilizing alternative energy sources. He also discussed Azerbaijan's work as the COP29 president, leading efforts on global climate action.

On November 29, Rzayev participated in a panel on "Global Governance Crisis and Multilateralism," where he shared insights into Azerbaijan’s foreign policy and security strategy. He emphasized the country’s commitment to international law and multilateralism since regaining independence.

Rzayev also touched upon the challenges Azerbaijan faced, particularly the consequences of Armenian occupation, and the country's significant contributions to regional integration through major energy and transport projects.

Additionally, he underscored Azerbaijan’s successful four-year presidency of the Non-Aligned Movement.
