Azerbaijani envoy: Baku, Washington in close contact over Nakhchivan drone strike
Azerbaijan’s ambassador to the United States, Khazar Ibrahim, stated that the country is taking “appropriate defensive and precautionary measures” following an Iranian drone strike on Nakhchivan.
According to Caliber.Az, he made the remarks in an interview with the American site Axios.
When asked if he is concerned about the possibility of another attack, Ambassador Ibrahim replied that it's “not about worrying.”
“We are calculating, we are looking at facts, and we are making decisions,” he noted.
Ibrahim said that Baku and Washington are maintaining close contact regarding this incident.
Videos reviewed by Axios show an explosion and black smoke near Nakhchivan airport, with a loud hum audible just before the strike.
The ambassador stated that Iran must apologise, provide an official explanation, ensure those responsible are held accountable for this crime, and, of course, guarantee that such incidents never happen again.
