Azerbaijani envoy briefs Kuwaiti top official on Armenian provocations

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kuwait Emil Karimov has informed Chairman of Kuwait's National Assembly Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Saad.

Azertag reports that during the meeting, the ambassador emphasised the high level of relations between the two countries, noting that the religious and cultural values bring the two peoples closer to each other. He said that the meeting between the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev and the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Jabir Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah in December 1994 within the framework of the Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in Morocco laid the foundation of friendly relations between the countries.

He said that President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Kuwait in February 2009 was a new stage in the development of relations between the two friendly countries.

Karimov stated that the countries have successfully cooperated within the framework of international organizations, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Non-Aligned Movement, recalling that Kuwait always supports Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He provided detailed information about the acts of vandalism committed by Armenia in the Azerbaijani territories during the occupation, adding that 65 out of 67 mosques were completely destroyed, large-scale reconstruction and reconstruction works are currently being carried out in the territories freed from occupation. The diplomat noted the possibility of the participation of Kuwaiti companies in the reconstruction process, which is currently proceeding rapidly.

The diplomat said that despite the fact that two years have passed since the end of the 44-day Patriotic War, provocations by Armenia continue and this is aimed at hindering the peace process.

The Chairman of the National Assembly of Kuwait expressed his gratitude for the detailed information and expressed his satisfaction with the historic friendly relations between the two countries based on religious and moral values. He stressed that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was always supported by Kuwait and this support will continue in the future.

Karimov talked about the existing close relations between the parliaments of the two countries. He presented the original of the congratulatory letter of Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament, to Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Saad on the occasion of his appointment as the Speaker of the National Assembly of Kuwait.

Then, mutual visits of the heads of the parliaments of the two countries and the prospects of relations between friendship groups were discussed.
