Azerbaijani film wins best documentary at Silk Road festival
A documentary on the history of Turkic symbols produced by Azerbaijan’s CBC broadcaster has won the “Best Documentary” award at the 2024 International Silk Road Film Festival.
As reported by AZERTAG, the documentary titled "Turkic Tamgas on the Territory of Azerbaijan" was produced and filmed by Azerbaijan’s first international television channel, CBC. It is part of the channel’s "Unexplored Azerbaijan" series, which focuses on the study and promotion of the country’s culture and history.
The documentary highlights Azerbaijan's unique artifacts — Turkic tamgas, which are ancient clan symbols that serve as significant markers of the history of Turkic peoples. These symbols, found across Azerbaijan, preserve the legacy of generations that have shaped the country’s history. Tamgas are visible on historical monuments such as caravanserais, mausoleums, cemeteries, and rock formations.
"Turkic Tamgas on the Territory of Azerbaijan" is not just a documentary but a tribute to the grandeur of ancestors. Its victory at the international film festival, held in Ireland and sponsored by the Turkish General Directorate of Cinema under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, highlights the importance of Azerbaijan's cultural heritage, its role in the history of Turkic peoples, and the necessity of preserving and promoting the nation’s cultural values on the global stage.
