Azerbaijani FM Bayramov congratulates new secretary-general of TURKPA PHOTO
Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the newly appointed Secretary-General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA), Ramil Hasan, on October 15.
Minister Bayramov extended his congratulations to Hasan on his appointment to the leadership of the respected regional body and wished him success in his role, Caliber.Az reports citing the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on cooperation within TURKPA, discussing the assembly’s current and future activities and prospects for expanding inter-parliamentary collaboration among member states.
Minister Bayramov underscored TURKPA’s importance as a platform for strengthening fraternal and friendly ties between Turkic states at the parliamentary level, highlighting the role of parliamentary diplomacy in enhancing cooperation across political, economic, social, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.
The discussion further emphasised that expanding contacts among Turkic states contributes to mutually beneficial collaboration within regional and international organisations.
On 15 October, Mehmet Süreyya Er, outgoing Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA), formally handed over his responsibilities to the newly appointed Ramil Hasan.
During a ceremony at the organisation’s headquarters, Er passed the TURKPA flag to his successor.
Ramil Hasan was elected Secretary General of TURKPA following a decision made at the Assembly’s 14th Plenary Session.
