Azerbaijani FM briefs UN session about latest Armenia provocations
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has spoken about the provocations committed by Armenia on September 12 and 13 during a speech at the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 24.
The minister stressed that Armenia is openly trying to escalate tensions in order to manipulate the attention of the international community, Report informs.
"Armenia was clearly trying to escalate tensions in order to manipulate the attention of the international community. Thus, on September 13, it ignored the ceasefire agreement and continued to fire large-caliber weapons and artillery on the territory of Azerbaijan. As a result, 80 servicemen were killed on the Azerbaijani side, 282 servicemen and two civilians were injured.
Despite such actions of Armenia, Azerbaijan behaved extremely cautiously, took a number of steps, including contacts with relevant international partners, and demonstrated a good and true will to restore the ceasefire regime.
Finally, on September 14, from 20:00, a ceasefire was restored between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and, as both sides confirmed, the ceasefire continues," the minister said.
