Azerbaijani FM, Director of World Intellectual Property Organization discuss cooperation PHOTO

On June 24, 2023, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received a delegation led by Hasan Kleib, Deputy Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

During the meeting, international partnership in the field of intellectual property protection, as well as existing cooperation relations between Azerbaijan and WIPO were discussed, Caliber.Az reports, citing the ministry.

Bayramov noted that there are wide cooperation relations between the relevant institutions of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the organization, and informed about a number of directions of activities carried out in the country in the field of intellectual property improvement.

At the same time, the minister drew attention to the changing of the Azerbaijani toponyms during the 30-year occupation of the territories by Armenia, the looting or renaming of cultural assets and cultural heritage objects belonging to Azerbaijan, and the appropriation of other examples of cultural heritage belonging to Azerbaijan by Armenia.

The minister informed the counterpart about the intensive reconstruction and recovery processes carried out by Azerbaijan in the post-conflict period. Noting the beginning of the process of the return of internally displaced persons to their native land, he spoke of the danger of landmines planted by Armenia as the main obstacle to this process.

The opposite party, in turn, expressed satisfaction with the existing cooperation between Azerbaijan and the organization, and that the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan is an example for the activities of a number of countries in this field. He noted that Azerbaijan made a valuable contribution to international cooperation in this field.

Moreover, Hasan Kleib pointed out that there is a potential for cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Organization in the field of intellectual property education.

The meeting also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
