Azerbaijani FM expresses condolences on death of Belarusian counterpart
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister has expressed his condolences on the sudden death of his Belarussian colleague, Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei.
"It is with deep sorrow that I have learned of the passing of the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Belarus, V. V. Makei. Vladimir Vladimirovich was a true diplomat, a patriot of Belarus and a friend of Azerbaijan. I express my heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones", Minister Bayramov published on his official Twitter account.
According to the Belarusian Belta agency, Minister Makei died suddenly at the age of 64. The news of his death was announced by the ministry’s spokesperson, Anatoly Glaz on November 26.
Makei had been appointed as the Head of the diplomatic structure in 2012, having previously served as the Belarusian representative to the Council of Europe and France in the 90s and acting as the Head of Belarus' President's Administration from 2008 to 2012.
