Azerbaijani FM hails exemplary state-religious ties at meeting with Anglican Communion leader
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met leader of the Anglican Communion, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby on October 2, 2023.
Bayramov informed about the traditions of interreligious harmony, tolerance and multiculturalism in Azerbaijan and drew attention to the fact that along with representatives of the Islamic religion, Christians, Jews and representatives of other religions live in conditions of mutual understanding, good neighbourliness and peace in Azerbaijan, where the majority of the population are Muslims, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.
The minister emphasised that Azerbaijan has become one of the world centres of intercultural and inter-civilizational dialogue, and in this sphere, Azerbaijan, led by President Aliyev, has put forward a number of globally significant initiatives and has held a number of important international events.
Bayramov also informed that Azerbaijan is one of the countries with exemplary state-religious relations, where full attention and care is paid to the cultural and religious heritage of various peoples, and in such conditions our Christian compatriots freely live upon their traditions, religious beliefs and culture, actively participate in all spheres of Azerbaijan’s socio-cultural life.
