Azerbaijani FM holds several meetings in Qatar

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, who is on a working visit to Qatar to attend the Fifth UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries, met with UN Under Secretary General, High Representative for the Least Developed and Landlocked Countries Rababa Fatima and Director of United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation Dima Al-Khatib.

At the meetings, Bayramov spoke in detail about the close cooperation of Azerbaijan with the UN and its structures, about the participation of Azerbaijan in projects implemented in the humanitarian sphere, the assistance provided to the least developed countries, assistance programmes for about 130 countries, as wellas Azerbaijani scholarship and training programmes, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

Noting that Azerbaijan has made significant progress in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals, the minister informed the interlocutors that consistent measures are currently being taken in Azerbaijan to implement the UN sustainable development agenda, develop a diversified, technological and knowledge-intensive economy.

The meeting discussed assistance to the least developed countries in the areas of social protection, healthcare, education, and the possibility of cooperation in this direction.

Bayramov also spoke about the current post-conflict situation in the region, Azerbaijan's peace agenda, reconstruction work carried out in the liberated territories, as well as the ongoing mine threat.
