On the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 23, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with his Austrian counterpart, Beate Meinl-Reisinger.
“It was a pleasure to meet with Beate Meinl-Reisinger, the Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria, during the UNGA80 High-level week. Our discussion covered a wide range of topics, including political relations, trade and economic cooperation arising from both our bilateral and multilateral engagements,” Caliber.Az quotes Bayramov as saying on his X account.
Moreover, Bayramov met with Ignazio Cassis, Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, on the margins of the ongoing session, and discussed ways to further advance the Azerbaijan–Switzerland partnership, including political consultations, economic and trade ties, and broader cooperation in multilateral fora.
“We also exchanged perspectives on key regional and international issues, reaffirming our shared commitment to dialogue, stability and constructive engagement,” the Azerbaijani top diplomat.
Then, Minister Bayramov held a meeting with Ecuador’s Foreign Minister Gabriella Sommerfeld. They discussed steps to strengthen political consultations, expand economic and humanitarian cooperation, and enhance collaboration within the UN, NAM, and other multilateral platforms.
“On this occasion, we signed the ‘Protocol on Political Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility of the Republic of Ecuador,’ marking an important step in advancing our bilateral relations,” Bayramov noted.
In the continuation of the marginal meetings, Bayramov held talks with Abdoulkader Houssein Omar, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Djibouti. "We discussed prospects for deepening bilateral cooperation in political, economic, trade, humanitarian, and educational fields, as well as partnership in multilateral platforms. The significance of mutual support and solidarity within UN, OIC and NAM was emphasized," the Azerbaijani minister wrote on X.
"The upcoming OIC Summit in Baku in 2026 and Azerbaijan’s chairmanship provide new opportunities to strengthen this cooperation. During the meeting we signed the 'Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Djibouti on exemption of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and service passports'," Bayramov added.
