Azerbaijani FM meets incoming French envoy, stresses importance of continued dialogue
Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov held a meeting with Sophie Lagoutte, the newly appointed Ambassador of France to the country, marking the formal commencement of her diplomatic mission in the country.
Ambassador Lagoutte presented a copy of her credentials to Minister Bayramov during the meeting, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
FM Bayramov extended his congratulations on her appointment and conveyed his best wishes for success in her new role.
The sides engaged in a substantive discussion on the current state of bilateral and multilateral relations between Azerbaijan and France. They also addressed a range of pressing regional and international issues, reflecting the broader geopolitical context within which both nations operate.
Particular attention was given to the existing tensions between Baku and Paris. The sides exchanged views on the underlying causes of the recent downturn in diplomatic relations and underscored the necessity of maintaining open channels of communication.
Despite the challenges, both parties reaffirmed the value of sustained dialogue and constructive engagement as essential tools for navigating differences and fostering mutual understanding.
