Azerbaijani FM: Organisation of Turkic States emerges as dynamic regional hub

07 October 2025 09:53

Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) has transformed into a dynamic regional centre.

He made this remark at the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OTS, held in preparation for the 12th Summit of the Organisation on “Regional Peace and Security”, as per domestic media.

The minister expressed gratitude to his Kyrgyz counterpart for his contribution to the activities of the organisation.

“The OTS has turned into a dynamic regional centre. Today, within the framework of this meeting, we will again discuss cooperation in the spheres of energy security, economy, and digital skills,” Bayramov said.

He emphasised the importance of the Gabala Declaration, noting that the documents to be adopted at the summit would further strengthen cooperation within the OTS.

“The Gabala Declaration and other documents to be adopted as a result of the summit will have a positive impact on the development of our organization,” he said.

Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan had fully restored its sovereignty in 2023 and that contacts with Armenia continue.

“In this context, the summit held in Washington and the signed documents have historical significance. Regional peace and stability should serve the social well-being and progress of peoples. For our cooperation to be more sustainable, we should also strengthen economic ties,” the minister stated.

He further underlined that Azerbaijan is making consistent efforts to enhance the Middle Corridor, which plays an increasingly important role in strengthening regional connectivity.

The diplomat also pointed out the promising prospects of cooperation among OTS member states.

“We should continue our successful partnership in the energy sector by implementing new joint projects,” Bayramov stated.

He stressed that the member countries of the OTS are actively participating in reconstruction and development projects in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories.

“Azerbaijan has made concrete proposals for shaping our organization into a significant regional factor. To this end, $2 million have been transferred to the OTS Secretariat,” the foreign minister said.
