Azerbaijani FM, outgoing Lithuanian ambassador discuss cooperation issues PHOTO
Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with the outgoing Lithuanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Egidijus Navikas on August 10.
The sides discussed issues on the current cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Lithuania, as well as the current situation in the region, Caliber.Az reports.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov thanked Ambassador Egidius Navikas for his efforts in the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Lithuania during his diplomatic activity in Azerbaijan and wished him success in his future activities.
Bayramov informed the other side about the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, the process of normalization between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He said that Armenia's continuation of military-political provocations and landmine threats against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, in violation of the norms of international law and the obligations it has undertaken and the statements it has made, is the biggest threat to the advancement of the peace agenda.
Bayramov informed his guest that Armenia, which committed a provocation against the border crossing point of Lachin on June 15 of this year, which resulted in the wounding of an Azerbaijani border guard, sent convoys to Azerbaijani territories under the name of "humanitarian cargo" without agreement with Azerbaijan, which is another provocation aimed at misleading the international community. He emphasized that the rejection of Azerbaijan's proposal to use the Aghdam-Khankandi road for the supply of more food to Armenian residents shows that the issue is not humanitarian, but completely political in nature.
Ambassador Egidijus Navikas thanked Minister Jeyhun Bayramov for his warm welcome. He noted the importance of the current political relations between the two countries to promote the development of relations in the fields of economy, energy, transport and communications.
The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
