Azerbaijani FM, Palestinian PM discuss situation in Gaza
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov had a phone talk with Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority Mohammad Mustafa on April 19.
The bilateral and multilateral cooperation issues between Azerbaijan and Palestine, as well as the situation in Gaza, were discussed during the phone talk, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.
Bayramov congratulated Mustafa on his appointment as prime minister. Mustafa, in turn, cordially congratulated Azerbaijan on its chairmanship of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
During the phone talk, bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries in political, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres, mutual support of Azerbaijan and Palestine within the regional and international organisations were noted.
Azerbaijan has always supported the settlement of the Palestinian issue in accordance with international law, as well as in accordance with UN Security Council’s resolutions based on the “two-state principle”, and has taken practical steps in this sphere at the national level, and during its chairmanship in Non-Aligned Movement.
Azerbaijan's assistance worth $2 million rendered to Palestine through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), as well as the availability of training programmes for Palestinian students and diplomats, were noted.
During the phone talk, the views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest were also exchanged.
