Azerbaijani FM: Rift among leading global powers is deepening

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that, the divide between the world’s leading powers is becoming increasingly pronounced, weakening multipolarity

According to Bayramov, the modern system of international relations is undergoing a new phase, Caliber.Az reports, per local media.

"Russia, the United States, China, and other global forces are pursuing their own agendas. In essence, multipolarity signifies a shift in the balance of power on a global scale," the minister noted. He stressed that multilateral cooperation is inevitable in the new world order.

While speaking at the 12th Global Baku Forum Bayramov emphasised that Azerbaijan has consistently adhered to the principle of multilateralism, as demonstrated by cooperation frameworks such as Azerbaijan-Georgia and Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-Türkiye.

"History shows that multilateral cooperation is constantly evolving, and its renewal is not such a difficult task," he stated.

The 12th Global Baku Forum, themed "Rethinking World Order: Turning Challenges into Opportunities," is currently being held at the Gulustan Palace in Baku, Azerbaijan, and will continue until 15 March.

Organised under the patronage of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the forum has brought together over 400 distinguished participants, including current and former heads of state, Nobel Peace Prize laureates, and leading figures from international organisations and civil society.

In his opening address, President Aliyev underscored the forum’s significance as a platform for global dialogue, cooperation, and innovation.

Since its launch, the Global Baku Forum has grown into a key international event, hosting more than 100 heads of state and government and over 4,000 senior leaders. Through high-level discussions, it continues to tackle pressing global issues and explore solutions for an increasingly complex world.
