Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with OSCE Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioğlu on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference to discuss bilateral cooperation, regional security, and the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process.
The discussions also focused on the key aspects of Azerbaijan-OSCE bilateral cooperation, the challenges facing the organisation, regional and international security issues, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, Minister Bayramov extended his sincere congratulations to Sinirlioğlu on his appointment as OSCE Secretary General and wished him success in his new role. He emphasised the importance of upholding international legal principles, particularly sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the inviolability of internationally recognised borders, in the face of increasing security challenges in Europe.
Bayramov also briefed the OSCE Secretary General on the post-conflict situation in the region, stressing that dismantling remnants of the former occupation period is crucial for the OSCE’s effectiveness and for aligning its activities with the current regional realities.
Regarding the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalisation process, the minister highlighted Armenia’s continued territorial claims in its Constitution and other legislative acts as a major impediment to progress.
