Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry comments on Iran's double standards Tehran has kept silent for all these 30 years...
"As it is known, the Republic of Azerbaijan itself is a country that suffered from invasion and aggression. The Armenian side used force to occupy 20 per cent of the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, including 132 km of our border with Iran. For 30 years, the Iranian side has not expressed any attitude to the forceful change of borders. The address of such statements made by Iran at the moment is not clear," Leyla Abdullayeva, head of the Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, said.
She made the remark while commenting on statements made recently by senior Iranian civilian and military officials that "changing borders in the region is our red line", Caliber.Az reports.
According to her, there are formats for Azerbaijani and Armenian leaders to meet in Moscow and Brussels. "Negotiations in these formats are ongoing. As part of the negotiations, the State Commission on Delimitation of the State Border was established by mutual agreement of the parties and its composition was agreed upon. We believe that Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, including the border issue between the two states, should be resolved without external interference," she said.
