Azerbaijani, Indian FMs hold political consultations PHOTO

The fifth bilateral political consultations between the Azerbaijani and Indian foreign ministries have been held in New Delhi.

During the consultations, the delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov from the Azerbaijani side, while from the Indian side - Secretary for West of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs Sanjay Verma, the Azerbaijani foreign ministry told Caliber.Az.

The current bilateral and multilateral relations between the two countries, the work of the intergovernmental commission, and prospects for cooperation in the political, economic, trade, cultural, educational and other fields, as well as within the UN and the Non-Aligned Movement were discussed during political consultations.

The Azerbaijani deputy foreign minister noted that an agenda for cooperation has been created in various fields both on a bilateral and multilateral basis over 30 years that have passed since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Mammadov added that there is a potential for developing relations.  

He also informed the opposite side about the new realities in the region in the post-conflict period, the restoration and construction work being carried out by Azerbaijan, the normalisation of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Azerbaijan's activity to promote the peace agenda and the restoration of routes.

The opposite side was also informed about Armenia’s provocations threatening peace and security in the region.

The sides also exchanged views on issues of regional and international security of mutual interest during the meeting.
