Azerbaijani MFA: Armenia's reckless ambitions hinder regional peace Spox Hajizada responds to FM Mirzoyan
Aykhan Hajizada, the spokesman for Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, issued a response on the X platform to Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan's comments at the Warsaw Forum.
The diplomat noted that Armenia’s adventurist aspirations are the main obstacle to peace with Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports.
Hajizada accused Mirzoyan of spreading disinformation and propaganda designed to incite anti-Azerbaijani sentiment. "Instead of deceiving the international community, Minister Mirzoyan should explain why he remained silent about Armenia's military aggression and its occupation of Azerbaijani territories for nearly 30 years," he stated.
He emphasized that despite international obligations, Armenia refused to withdraw more than 10,000 military personnel from Azerbaijani territory until they were expelled by Azerbaijan in 2023. "These illegal armed groups were supported by Armenia’s state budget with military, technical, and financial aid in an effort to fuel separatism in Azerbaijan’s sovereign territory as part of a revanchist agenda," Hajizada added.
Hajizada further rejected claims that Azerbaijan attacked peaceful Armenian civilians, clarifying that Azerbaijan’s actions were legitimate counter-terrorism operations under the UN Charter, aimed at disarming illegal armed groups. He also highlighted Armenia's silence on the forced displacement of over one million Azerbaijanis from Armenia and the previously occupied Karabakh region.
In conclusion, Hajizada urged Armenia to abandon its dangerous tactics and adopt a more reasonable and legal approach, stating, "Embarking on adventurism for aspirations beyond its own capacity reveals Armenia’s failure of judgement, constitutes the biggest obstacle to peace and stability in our region."
