Azerbaijani MP emphasizes need for constitutional changes in Armenia
14 June 2024 12:18
MP Tural Ganjaliyev underscored the importance of amending Armenia's Constitution and renouncing territorial claims against neighbouring countries during today's session of the Milli Majlis, APA reports.
Ganjaliyev emphasized that the Armenian government must overcome any lingering phobias, noting, "Countries often revise their constitutions following wars. Germany and Italy amended their constitutions after World War II, relinquishing territorial ambitions. France, a close ally of Armenia, did the same in 1947. Armenia should follow suit."
This comes after Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan recently stated his opposition to amending the constitution, whose preamble enshrines territorial claims to Azerbaijan's Karabakh region.
