Azerbaijani MP prevents Armenian provocation at international conference in Moldova
Azerbaijani Parliament member Vugar Bayramov has prevented an Armenian provocation at the international scientific and practical conference "Ensuring Synergy for the Future" in Chisinau, Moldova.
The incident occurred on the first day of the event during the fifth panel session when an Armenian woman, claiming to be a resident of the so-called "Nagorno-Karabakh," made biased and distorted statements about Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
In a firm response, Bayramov immediately objected to her remarks, demanding the immediate cessation of the speaker's presentation, pointing out that there is no region called "Nagorno-Karabakh" but rather the Karabakh Economic Region of Azerbaijan.
"At an international event dedicated to dialogue, separatist tendencies cannot be allowed," Bayramov emphasized.
He further stressed the importance of discussing the rights of 300,000 Azerbaijanis forcibly displaced from Western Azerbaijan, rather than promoting biased political statements. "With such prejudiced approaches, peace in the Caucasus will remain elusive," he added.
As a result of Bayramov's insistent demands, the representative of Armenia was interrupted, and her presentation was halted. The conference organizers later issued a formal apology to the Azerbaijani delegation for the incident.
The "Ensuring Synergy for the Future" conference has brought together representatives from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Moldova, Ukraine, and the European Union. Azerbaijani delegates include experts from state institutions such as the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency, universities, and Khazar University.
The event is set to conclude on March 13.
